Welcome back to another episode of Fintech, What the Heck?, the best podcast for financial professionals, everything fintech, and the future of data! In this episode, we had the pleasure of interviewing Abhinav Sinha, Co-Founder of RAFA. RAFA is a fintech company that provides everyday investors with bite-sized, deep AI driven investment insights to make smarter investment decisions no matter your experience level or trading platform. We also sat down with Intrinio’s Chief Executive Office, Rachel Carpenter and talked about what Intrinio has been up to, exciting things on the horizon and an interesting conversation with blockchain and the SEC vs. Exchanges.
Abhinav Sinha describes what RAFA AI is and how it is useful for investors. He shares the insights behind the AI and what they analyze and ways they are saving investors time with their automation. Another feature Abhinav mentions are the “bubbles” on his website, giving clients quick, helpful information visually and sharing the importance of getting a “feel” for the data.
RAFA AI includes a free 14-day trial of their software and has maintained their initial goal of providing an affordable software for its users. Abhinav also discusses the company’s plans to focus on product development and expanding their scope while increasing their user base. RAFA’s competitive approach, along with their intuitive and approachable tools is also their mobile-friendly platform allowing it’s users to not be tied to their desk. Host Andrew Carpenter and Abhinav Sinha wrap up the interview by discussing what is next for RAFA – Abhinav shares with us what they are building and the future of RAFA.
Rachel Carpenter shares an update on Intrinio, where we’re at, things we are working on – new datasets, simplifying our data offerings, and exciting new data coming soon! Andrew and Rachel talk about the behind-the-scenes effort that is essential to keep things running smoothly and the importance of focusing on what we are good at and outsourcing what we aren’t so good at. Rachel discusses a personal experience as a startup and lessons she learned and helpful tips for other early-stage entrepreneurs. They discussed an exciting new video series Intrinio recently launched on our YouTube channel, which shares tutorials and education for the fintech industry. Andrew and Rachel talk about new tools that are emerging in the fintech space and how that affects the future of data.
An interesting topic they dive into are their thoughts on trading on the blockchain and the industries affected by this. With trading happening on the chain, essentially, it would be operating as the exchange, brokerage, clearing house and custodian all in one. Which leaves the question, where does the source of data come from? Is the blockchain an efficient database? And what will that look like 10 years from now?
They also touch on a hot topic around the SEC filing based on exchanges being able to charge any amount of fees for access to their data. They explain how the SEC plays a role in these fees and how this impacts everyone that buys stock market data. Rachel encourages listeners who want more affordable access to data to write a letter to the SEC, sec.gov/rules/proposed.shtml. Lastly, Rachel shares with listeners two helpful tips she picked up as a leader.
