Financial Data Access Methods

Intrinio offers multiple access methods to help you easily retrieve real-time, delayed, end of day, or historical financial data.

Web API

Built for: developers
Use if: you need to pull market data or fundamental data programmatically
Works with: all data feeds

Our Web API is ideal for intraday, delayed, or EOD market data, or for users who need to pull real-time prices at specific times, but not all day. It’s also our primary method for delivering standardized or as-reported fundamental data.

The Intrinio API uses HTTPS verbs and a RESTful endpoint structure. Basic Authentication is administered over HTTPS. Responses are delivered in JSON format. We also offer fully supported SDKs in six languages.

Websocket API

Built for: developers
Use if: you need to stream the price of a security all day
Works with: real-time market data

The WebSocket API streams the real-time price of a security continuously. You can connect to a single stock or multiple stocks concurrently and always be looking at the true real-time price.

WebSocket APIs are priced by concurrent connections. If your plan allows for 10 concurrent connections, you can stream the real-time prices for up to 10 stocks simultaneously. A plan with 1,000 total daily connections would allow you to connect up to 1,000 different securities in a day, changing them as needed.

Direct Database Access

Built for: everyone
Use if: you need to sort through massive amounts of data quickly
Works with: most data feeds

We’ve partnered with Snowflake to bring you direct database access. This method allows you to scan terabytes of data to find exactly what you’re looking for within seconds by writing simple SQL queries.

Snowflake offers native and standards-based connections that enable developers to use a variety of languages and frameworks. Snowflake can even function as a traditional database – import your security master into it, join multiple datasets together, and run complicated queries.

Bulk File Downloads

Built for: everyone
Use if: you need large flat files of data
Works with: historical data

Our historical fundamentals and market data are available for download in comma-separated values (CSV) format. CSV downloads are ideal for users who need to download large amounts of data.

When you subscribe to Intrinio data, you will automatically receive access to any bulk download files that correspond to your subscription.

What can Intrinio do for me?

We provide real-time, intraday, EOD, and historical market data; real-time and delayed US options data; and standardized and as-reported US fundamentals, supplemented with company metadata, news, IPO information, insider transactions and ownership, and institutional holdings. We can also leverage our extensive partner network to match you with providers for other datasets like international market data, ETF data, mutual funds, and analyst estimates.

Our data is available through flexible delivery mechanisms tailored to your needs, including our powerful, easy-to-use Web API, WebSocket API, CSV downloads, FTP, Snowflake direct database access, and AWS. Plus, you’ll get built-in ticketing, US-based chat and email support, and developer assistance to make integration as smooth as possible.

What is a consultation?

We encourage prospective Intrinio customers to request a consultation with our team. A consultation is a 10- to 20-minute call with one of our sales development representatives.

We ask a few questions about your business, timeline, and data needs. The consultation ensures that Intrinio is a good fit for your business before we move forward.

Why would I want one?

Intrinio has matched thousands of clients with the right financial data. A consultation puts that expertise to work for you. It’s a simple way to find out if Intrinio can provide the right data, format, licensing, and coverage for your use case.

You’ll want a consultation if you:
a) have a serious business need for financial data, and
b) don’t want to spend days sifting through marketing material and technical jargon.

What happens after a consultation?
  1. If we can help your business, we schedule a 30- to 60-minute follow-up call with our product specialists to begin developing your customized solution architecture.

  2. After the sales call, we send a proposal detailing the solution architecture discussed with associated pricing.

  3. Once you sign off on the proposal, we set up a 2-week trial period. Our CTO hosts an initial trial kick-off call to help your technical team get started and is available to answer all of your questions over the trial period.

  4. If you confirm during the trial that our solution meets your needs, you'll simply need to sign the contract to begin our long-term partnership.

  5. Our customer success team facilitates account creation and begins with the official onboarding process.

  6. We provide ongoing support via:

    • a ticketing system for technical issues and US-based live chat
    • direct email and phone access to your customer success manager
    • technical support from our CTO and engineering staff
    • data sourcing services from our business development manager
    • marketing and promotional initiatives with our marketing team
