Welcome back to another episode of Fintech, What the Heck?, the best podcast for financial professionals, everything fintech, and the future of data! In this episode, we had the pleasure of interviewing Leon Noble, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer and David Curry, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of InvestorIQ. InvestorIQ  is an AI powered equity analytics platform delivering the best risk reward opportunities to investors.

Highlights

Meet the Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Leon Noble and the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer, David Curry of InvestorIQ (:46)

Leon Noble and David Curry share with host Andrew Carpenter a little of their previous background and Leon explained how his own frustrations as a retail trader, dealing with stocks in equity research led to starting and creating InvestorIQ. InvestorIQ aims to make stock in equity research more functionable while also addressing risk management. Leon describes the core of InvestorIQ is a risk management tool with equity research built on top.

Andrew asks how InvestorIQ experience is different for end users? Leon and David describe their platform’s very clean interface, filtering out “poor equities”, ranking them with their AI and risk adjusted models to present to end users to move and grow with the market. David Curry adds they also use contextualized information to educate their users on cues to look for in a good stock. Leon also adds that their risk management tool has become even more appealing to retail traders who have recently gotten “burned” in the market. InvestorIQ can show it’s end users the risk in actual dollars before getting into a trade. The two Co-Founders have been able to gain more insight and helpful feedback into their platform by conducting interviews and realizing a lot of retail investors are experiencing the same pain points Leon expressed as a retail trader himself.

Andrew goes on to ask how retail investors will be able to interact with their portfolio over time? Leon makes it clear they do not give advice or tell retail traders what to do, InvestorIQ simply provides risk adjusted returns and the user can make their own decision based off that information. They also explain that their platform is geared more for long term investing with Leon providing a great quote, “It’s not about timing the market, but time in the market.”

Andrew poses the question regarding their data process and how they went about getting their data. They shared with listeners InvestorIQ receives their equities data solely from Intrinio. They go on to explain one of the major reasons they went with Intrinio, besides our impressive data tags, was hearing Intrinio’s CEO struggle with finding reliable and affordable data when she first started out trying to build an app - Leon could relate with his own experience and that really hit home for him.

Lastly, the guys wrap up the episode by David sharing their plan at InvestorIQ is to keep refining their model over time to keep up with the market changes.
