Downloading Financial Data

Welcome to Intrinio. Through our Intrinio Data Marketplace, we offer a wide selection of financial data feeds sourced by our own proprietary processes as well as from many data vendors. All of our data is available for download in the CSV (comma-separated values) format.

When downloading a data file for the first time, you will be prompted for your Username and Password:

Paging

Sometimes there is too much information in our system to put into a single file of reasonable size. Therefore we limit file downloads to 10,000 rows. In order to retrieve the rest of the rows, you will have to request the second "page" of results. The first row of each file will contain paging information:

RESULT_COUNT: 6342 , PAGE_SIZE: 10000 , CURRENT_PAGE: 1, TOTAL_PAGES: 1 , API_CALL_CREDITS: 1

  • RESULT_COUNT tells you how many total rows there are in our system
  • PAGE_SIZE tells you how many records you are fetching per page
  • CURRENT_PAGE tells you which page you are currently viewing
  • TOTAL_PAGES tells you how many total pages there are
  • API_CALL_CREDITS tells you how many API calls credits your request consumed

If the TOTAL_PAGES field in your file is greater than 1 and you want to see the other pages, simply append a page_number parameter to the URL:

To exclude the paging information from your file, include a "hide_paging" parameter in the URL:

URL Formatting

URLs must be formatted correctly in order for file downloads to be processed successfully. Here are examples of correct URLs:

Here are examples of incorrect URLs:

Here is a key to the different parts of a URL:

https://api.intrinio.com /data_point.csv ? identifier = AAPL & item = marketcap,beta

  1. Intrinio's API web address.
  2. The location of the data you are trying to access.
  3. The separator between the URL address and the URL parameters.
  4. The name of the URL parameter.
  5. The separator between the name of the URL parameter and the value of the URL parameter.
  6. The value of the URL parameter.
  7. The separator between URL parameters.
  8. The name of the URL parameter.
  9. The separator between the name of the URL parameter and the value of the URL parameter.
  10. The value of the URL parameter. Note some parameters allow multiple values - separate them with a comma.

Your use of the data is exclusively for personal or professional research purposes and may not be utilized to build an application intended for use by end-users other than for You or Your Entity. You must disclose in any printed or shared document containing the Intrinio Data either the Intrinio logo or reference that the data is from Intrinio.

Returns indices list and information for all indices covered by Intrinio. There are three distinct types of indices: Stock Market, SIC (Sector & Industry), and Economic.

Stock Market Indices

Stock Market indices in our system.

Stock Prices

Returns professional-grade historical stock prices for a security or stock market index. New EOD prices are available at 5p.m. EST and intraday prices are updated every minute during the trading day from IEX. Historical prices are available back to 1996 or the IPO date, with some companies with data back to the 1970s. Stock market index historical price data is available back to the 1950s at the earliest. Data from Quandl, QuoteMedia and the Federal Reserve Economic Data.

Prices by Exchange

Daily prices for securities listed on NYSE. See Stock Exchanges for exchange symbols.

Financial Statements

Returns financial statements for US companies.

Requires a subscription to US Public Company Financials

Standardized Fundamentals

Returns a list of available standardized fundamentals (fiscal year and fiscal period) for the company with the given ticker, statement, and period type. Also, you may add a date and type parameter to specify the fundamentals you wish to be returned in the response.

Standardized Financials

Returns professional-grade historical financial data. This data is standardized, cleansed and verified to ensure the highest quality data sourced directly from the XBRL financial statements. The primary purpose of standardized financials are to facilitate comparability across a single company’s fundamentals and across all companies fundamentals.

Data Point

Returns the latest values for the given identifiers and data tags (see Documentation and Data Tag Lookup for details).

Multiple Values for Multiple Securities

Latest values for the given identifiers and data tags. Separate identifiers and items with a comma.

Historical Data

Returns the historical values for the given identifier and data tag (see Documentation and Data Tag Lookup for details).

Economic Data

Access the massive repository of economic data from the Federal Reserve Economic Data system via the Intrinio API. Fetch the most recent data point for an index, or refine your search with historical data (see Documentation and Data Tag Lookup for details).

Returns owners list and information for all insider and institutional owners of securities covered by Intrinio.

Insider Transactions & Ownership

Reports all insider transactions for owners and companies. Insiders must file Form 4, 5, or 6 with the SEC after any transaction. Provides transaction details for both non-derivative and derivative transactions for all owners. Ownership holdings are aggregated by both owners and by companies, with the value of the holdings as of the previous trading day.

Insider Transactions by Company

All insider transactions in a company with the given ticker.
Criteria for being an insider include being a director, officer, or 10%+ owner in the company. Transactions are detailed for both non-derivative and derivative transactions by the insider.

Insider Transactions by Owner

All insider transactions by the owner with the given CIK in as many companies as the owner may be considered an insider.

Insider Ownership by Company

All insider ownership records in a company with the given ticker.

Insider Holdings by Owner

All ownership interests by the owner with the given CIK. A single owner may own insider interests in a number of companies.

Institutional Holdings

Institutional Holdings are reported each quarter by Institutional Owners by filing Form 13-F with the SEC. Institutional Holdings in securities are represented by CUSIP number by the firm. Holdings data includes the value and number of shares, and voting control.

Institutional Owners by Security

All institutional owners of the security with the given ticker. In other words, which institutional entities own AAPL stock.

Institutional Holdings by Owner

All institutional holdings by the company with the given CIK. In other words, which securities does Berkshire Hathaway Inc. own.
